| We purchased Gunner in February, 2007 at a horse sale in Michigan. He was well started and had all of the qualities I look for in a good horse. My goal was to show him in reining at the Quarter Horse Congress in Columbus, OH. I soon realized he would be a prime candidate to go bridleless so I began to prepare him to show bridleless in Freestyle Reining. In October, 2007 we showed in the Open Freestyle class and finished 8th. Since that time, I have been rounding Gunner out as a useful, confident horse. I taught him to drive, pick up my hat and lay down. We have spent many hours trail riding and working on body control. As an integral part of my training program, I routinely work with various obstacles to help me get control of the horse's mind, he accepted all these things exceptionally well, so we decided so exhibit him in this field as well. I have shown him locally in Halter, Western & English Pleasure, and of course reining! His charismatic personality always attracts new friends and we are looking forward to meeting more every year. Be sure to come over and say 'Hi' if you see us out and about!! |
